Assignment
Donald Shingler is a dental officer assigned to the 910th Medical Squadron of the 910th Airlift Wing.
In this capacity, Dr. Shingler uses his skills as a healthcare provider to serve his country and members of the military. He has volunteered for several humanitarian missions in which medical units bring health care to impoverished areas of the United States and abroad.
The 910th Airlift Wing is a United States Air Force base located in Vienna, Ohio. The base has some 1,500 airmen and is under the command of the 22nd Air Force. The 910th is currently authorized and assigned 12 Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport and cargo aircraft. The aircraft can airlift 92 persons, more than 45,000 pounds of cargo, 74 patients or 64 paratroopers. It can land on unimproved or dirt airstrips of less than 3,000 feet in length. The "Herc", as it is known, may also accomplish strategic airlift of personnel and supplies at distances in excess of 3,000 miles.
